Procurement Accelerator

In 2021, Catch22 and Hatch Enterprise are coming together to launch the CatchXHatch Procurement Accelerator.

Our goal is to support social ventures to win public sector contracts

A social business that delivers public services at every stage of the social welfare cycle.

We are creating a fairer society by supporting diverse and impact founders into business.

Why now?

1.

Solutions

Social ventures have solutions that can support the delivery of our public services, which currently face unprecedented challenges.

2.

Scale

Public procurement is an untapped route to scale for social ventures. We want to change that and show what is possible!

3.

Social Value

The UK government has committed to creating more social value through £49bn worth of public sector contracting. But we need new models of collaboration to support social ventures to meet this opportunity.

The Programme

Selected ventures will participate in an intensive year-long programme, followed by six months of post-programme support. Our support package will include:

1:1’s and masterclasses with public service delivery experts

Frontline residencies in Catch22’s services

Support to develop operations, finance, safeguarding and business development functions

Opportunities to bid for public sector contracts

Hackathons and unconferences events with policy and procurement officials

Fast-tracked introductions to pitch to social investors

Mentoring

Meet Emmanual

a change-maker who set out to improve the care system …

Emmanuel

As a teacher, he saw that children in care were falling behind in his classroom. In 2018, inspired by what he found, he decided to setup a residential children’s care home in an effort to reform the wider sector.

Having raised over £2m in social investment, Emmanuel’s organisation, Lighthouse, will open its first home in 2021.

Emmanuel faced three challenges

  1. Designing a new model for a children’s residential care home.
  2. Building an organisation at speed to deliver.
  3. Navigating and winning public sector contracts in a heavily regulated sector.

Which he solved with Catch22’s support through

  • Children’s social care expertise (i.e. Catch22 runs the National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum).
  • Organisational infrastructure (i.e. finance, operations).
  • Public procurement expertise and its charity number.

Who are we looking for?

We’re currently designing the programme, but we’re looking for ventures with the following characteristics:

  • Mission-driven team
Relentlessly focused on changing the lives of the most vulnerable people for the better.
  • Seeking to accelerate the use of a tech-enabled solution
Product in market with some proven traction (i.e. customers and revenue) and ready for further adoption to fuel growth.
  • Organisation able or ready to rapidly scale to deliver public procurement
Venture has grown beyond founding team.
